Yedda... Is growing :-)

We had another wonderful time on our monthly Tuesday gathering! PRAISE THE LIVING GOD!!! We discussed book 4... which is such a deep book that touches deep issues and situations in the "fiction turn non-fiction world". We are learning so much from all the different characters in this book and are seeing them slowly but surely evolve and grow spiritually.

Some of the women in the book club mentioned how the book has inspired them to approach circumstances in their life differently... it also helped remind us that we aren't alone in life when facing our GIANTS. We never know what the person sitting next to us whether on the train, work, restaurant or at the mall is facing yet we know that everyone in life is facing some sort of GIANT be it big or small. The Yadda Yadda women in book 4 faced a spiritual battle, yet they had their fellow sisters in Christ who came together to pray and comfort each other as they faced their GIANTS. They pulled together and walked the storm as one!!! God is good and we can rest on his promises. I love 2 Cornth: 1-4

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows!!!!!!

And to end we are happy to announce that 5 plus women have signed up for our second wave of Yedda!!! The second Yedda wave will be meeting the second Saturday of every month at 9:30am-10:30am. Once the Yadda Yadda series is completed the second wave Yedda will join the regular Tuesday gatherings with the rest of the Yedda's and we will no longer have a second wave Yedda.

So we had another great get together last week!!! A few ladies were unable to make it as they were preparing their children for BACK TO SCHOOL!!! You were greatly missed by all of us and look forward to seeing you next month!!!

We discussed Book 3 and so much has happened!!! Avis is now dating... YES DATING, Jodi is growing in the Lord spiritually, Becky Wallace was visited in jail by several Yadda's and will soon be released, Stu was able to open up about private issues in her life that she has never shared with anyone and the list goes on and on!!

Once again it was great to see/hear how the stories that unfold in the fictional lives of Jodi, Avis, Stu, Yo-Yo, Delores and the rest of the Yadda's can open up a deep conversation about forgiveness, hurt, spiritual growth and convictions. Vasti and I always look forward to moments as such.

We understand that that there are other women who are currently reading the series and want to be able to join book club. So we will be starting a second wave of Yedda's and aiming for a Saturday morning gathering. We'd like to at least lock-in a total of five women so that we can begin the second wave. We opened this conversation in our last meeting and a few of the women would like to join in on this as well!! THEY CAN'T GET ENOUGH YEDDA!! LOL. Yedda Get's Started

After much prayer, time and talk with leaders I'm happy to say that NLC Yedda-Yedda Bookclub kicked off July 2009 with much success and all for the Glory of God.



Vasti and I knew from the beginning that our first book/series hands-down would be the "Yadda Yadda Prayer Group" by Neta Jackson (a seven book series). And as we prepared for the days and weeks leading to the first meeting of Yedda we decided that ten chapters a month would be a good way to kick off the book. Factoring in we all lead busy lives, other ministries at hand, career, mom, wife etc. Ten chapters a month allowed the women to be able to enjoy the book at a reasonable pace and finishing Book 1 by September and beginning Book 2. Well, it turns out the women couldn't stop reading the book and before you know chapter 1 became 10, 10 became 20 and 20 became ALL DONE!! :-) When we met July 22nd we were discussing Book 1 to it's entirety!!! Vasti and I were so blessed to hear how this book was not only a page-turner for the women but to hear how the book was also a blessing to them as it was to us when we read the series!!!

We began meeting at the Training Center however the following month Alicia was gracious enough to open the doors to her beautiful home and invited Yedda to gather there. And again as you can imagine the ladies were to read 10 chapters at a time... turns out when we met for Book 2 the women had finished the book!!!! We had a FABULOUS time in the Lord!!! We discussed the book and reflected on the characters and the stories that took place, we discussed what it meant to us personally and spiritually. Women were opening up to one another and before you know it we were praying for one another!!!

It's amazing to see what God can do even in a book club. Through our fiction reading God is working in us, He is allowing us to reflect on certain things and situation in our lives. God extends his mercy to us and this is just another way of God demonstrating His power to us.


Our next meet is September 1st and we anticipate to hear what the women have to say about Book 3 and what God is doing in their lives. We decided to have our next gathering at my house (Leslie) as the setting of the homes of our fellow sisters makes it much more intimate.
